The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

I updated and edited this from last year. I post it every year, because info on how to get Heating, Fuel Assistance is very important.

I had it published for yesterday, but fell asleep and forgot.

When I went back to review it I noticed it needed some editing. Links change, etc after a year.

So I edited and now it’s perfect. If I do, say so myself. Which I am known, to be, inclined, to do.

It's Time To Apply For Heating/Fuel, Assistance.

I applied a month ago. I get it every year so they send me a notice when it's time to apply again. The next few weeks is the time to apply for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Apply Immediately.

In case of a backlog. September is usually the best time to make an appointment to apply. Apply as soon as possible; every year, although there is still time to apply. My state accepts applications through November. But don't wait.

The Adopt a Bubbe or Zayde program reaches out to elderly Jews and the handicapped in the Ukraine and Belarus. Founded in 1975.

Many live on their own in poor conditions and some are unable to leave their homes.

"Action" recruits coordinators who know their Jewish community and find, the most vulnerable Jewish retirees who need help.

With "Action" funds, coordinators purchase and deliver fresh fruits, vegetables, cheese and meats directly to their homes.

When needed, "Action" has also provided eyeglasses or hearing aids, a lamp to read by, or coal for heat in the winter months.

One could almost say that; Action For Post-Soviet Jewry, works with clients one shovel or one fresh chicken, or one pair of eyeglasses at a time.

I have no interests in this company. I just think It's a good deal for  Schools, Civic Groups and Charities.

LIHEAP is a Federal program. Run by individual states. Benefits vary. 

Some States give a lot, some only a little. As is the case, in North and South Dakota. I was told that funding for LIHEAP is almost non-existent in N and S Dakota. Tribal LIHEAP Program The LIHEAP statute allows Native American Tribes and Tribal Organizations that wish to assist low-income households in meeting the costs of home energy, to apply for a LIHEAP block grant.

As of FY 2014, 153 Tribes and Tribal Organizations in 22 states received LIHEAP funds allowing them to directly operate LIHEAP programs.
