There’s been a lot of doom and gloom here, and I get it. We have PTSD from 2016. The MSM is pushing a horse race, and maybe they’re right (although there are horse races where a particular horse wins by a lot). The polls show a tight race (IMHO — and I am an actuary — the polls cannot be trusted). Most of all, the idea of tRump winning is terrifying, not just for us as a country, but for the whole damned world.
Below the fold I have a video, produced by Meidas Touch Network, showing the experiences of many actual voters.
I think they’ll make you feel better.
This election is different. People know it. People, especially women, are showing up in large numbers.
I summarize the experiences below the video, because not everyone likes watching a video. However, if you have the time and your mood needs lifting, please do watch it. My summaries cannot capture the emotion and passion experienced by many of these voters.
And I apologize for showing his face, I can’t help it. But it’s only shown at the beginning.

- A woman in a VERY conservative area describes going to a crowded shipping store with 20+ people. She’s wearing an “I voted” sticker. The guy taking her order asks her about it and she says she voted for the 1st woman president. She got thumbs up and smiles from nearly everyone in the store.
- A guy in deep red Texas went to vote and described how long the line was (VERY!!!). He was wearing a hat with Harris and Walz. Only got two dirty looks from guys wearing tRump hats. He said that although no one said how they were voting, the vibes were really good — you know you can tell — and he predicted a blue tsunami.
- Dad and daughter went out to vote — in a really cold western North Carolina — and said all should bring coffee and go save the country.
- A woman — really emotional, shedding happy tears, which I can’t produce here — from Tennessee reports how she has never seen energy like this. Tons of first time voters, despite the crazy gerrymandering. She needed to drive around 3 times to find a parking spot. She tells all to early vote so the GotV people will stop bugging you.
- Other women are also really emotional about voting — how a woman says she never has come on to TikTok to cry about nothing. (Note: it’s not nothing. This is different.)
- A woman went early to vote to let her daughter know that her rights are non negotiable. How Love and not Hate will win this election.
- Then a Texan: we fired him a long time ago, you’re not getting your job back. Wait til you see these numbers. She was black, and she said how the white folk were also supporting Harris.
- Florida women in the Villages (they have been featured before) singing a version of bottles of beer on the wall.
- A black man announcing how he voted for Kamala Harris. Bright and early.
- A woman who tells parents they should prioritize kids over guns.
- A navy guy putting up a Harris-Walz sign.
- Liberals driving through a rural area, cheering when they see Harris signs.
Yeah, yeah, don’t get complacent, do all you can.
And we’re going to be on this roller coaster for another two weeks or so.
But maybe, like France and the UK, there will be resounding rejection of the crazy maga movement.
Need something else? This ad by Swalwell is a lot of fun:
I have personally seen signs of intense enthusiasm. Genuine gratitude when I showed some younger expats where to go to get their ballots. When I went to the post office to get my 1st 100 postcards, another woman was picking up 50 and it was clear it was for the same reason. When I went to get my 2nd 100 postcards, they could only sell me 99 — because they were out.
Hope this helps with the roller coaster that we are all experiencing!
Do what you can to GotV, then take your mind off of it with work or friends or cleaning out your closet.
🐦 I do a lot of other writing. A recent offering: the Crow Nickels (chronicles), a trilogy about crows who want to save birdkind from extinction: Hunters of the Feather, Scavengers of Mind and Familiars of the Flock (They’re really good! They’re really cheap! Buy and review or rate positively! And Hunters is also available on Audible!) Other stories, based on Jane Austen novels — such as The Meryton Murders— and others based on history and Greek mythology, such as Jocasta: The Mother-Wife of Oedipus, can be found here. All titles are available through Kindle Unlimited, but I only get paid if you turn the pages.
