NEW HAMPSHIRE COULD BE THE TIPPING POINT STATE FOR HILLARY AND THE SENATE – GOTV!

Nate Silver recently presented a diagram with New Hampshire as the tipping point state for Hillary. It also has one of the closest Senate races in the country and one key House race, so it’s a threefer. The rest of New England seems secure Clinton territory, and New Hampshire is beautiful in the Fall, so it would be a great place to GOTV in October.

According to the latest Five-Thirty Eight assessment, New Hampshire’s Governor Maggie Hassan is up on the incumbent Kelly Ayotte by a half a point for the Senate seat.  Real Clear Politics has Ayotte up by 2.5 points.  TheHuffington Post has Ayotte up by a half a point.  Ayotte is being funded by the Koch Brothers and their affiliated PAC’s. There’s no doubt that this is an extremely close race that could go either way.  In a small state like New Hampshire, GOTV makes much more of an impact.

The key house race is NH-1, a swing district in the southeastern part of the state that includes Manchester. The Dem candidate Carol Shea-Porter held this seat for 6 years but lost to Frank Guinta in the 2014 Republican wave.  She is a progressive who supports raising the minimum wage, campaign finance reform, renewable energy and gun control. She also supported a public option in the Affordable Care Act while in Congress. Her opponent Guinta, has been ranked as more conservative than Michelle Bachman. He is also bankrolled by the Koch brothers and he supports Trump. He opposes abortion, wants to privatize Medicare and Social Security, and received an “F” from the Sierra Club. This race is currently ranked as “lean Democrat” by the Cook Report but the race could be close.

So New Englanders, if you have some time to spare, go visit Manchester and GOTV for Hillary, Hassan and Shea-Porter.  Your campaign work could help us move this tipping point state in the left direction.  If you don’t have time to visit, you can donate to Hassan here, to Shea-Porter here, or you can support the Daily Kos and Move-On’s GOTV efforts, which include New Hampshire, here.
