Our friend, JeffW is having a heart valve replaced early next week. In the Oct. 1 WYFP? diary, he wrote about his trip to the ER that led to this surgery being scheduled. It is very serious business, heart surgery! And it takes quite some convalescence, too. It will take awhile for JeffW to feel himself again — so we were asked to make a community quilt for him, something that will warm him with good feelings and community support while he heals.
Given the short time before his surgery, we offered to finish the above pictured quilt top for him. As green is a color of the heart, we think it is perfect for JeffW. The quilt will be about twin size, ample for a hospital bed or for at home in a recliner. We will use Green Dream batting, a product we love because is it is soft, light, yet very warm (important in chilly Chicago where JeffW lives!) — and it is manufactured entirely from recycled soda bottles, to boot!
We will layer the quilt as soon as it is funded. If we can fund it this weekend, he will get it next week.
The cost of this twin sized quilt is $795 plus $18.75 Priority Mail shipping — a total of $813.75.
Here is a PayPal link for JeffW's quilt.
I’ve left the amount open so you can chip in whatever you want — $10, $25 or whatever you wish. In this way, this beautiful gift to JeffW can be crowdfunded. I will keep a running total here and when the goal is reached, I will announce it.
