For someone who opposes wind farms and wants to gut NASA of all climate research, the president-elect sure is worried about his oceanfront golf course in Ireland.
Specifically, he’s worried that sea level rise due to global warming might ruin it. And he wants to build a sea wall to protect it. And it’s all in print.
Wanna bet this is the only wall his supporters will see built?
Despite repeatedly dismissing global warming as a “hoax,” presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump is applying to build a sea wall to protect an oceanfront golf course he owns from the threat of rising sea levels and extreme weather.A Politico report published Monday details how the permit application for a wall to protect Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Ireland, located in Doughmore Bay, County Clare, explicitly mentions “global warming and its effects” as the impetus.
Part of the application reportedly features an environmental impact statement pointing to the threat of coastal erosion due to sea level rise “not just in Doughmore Bay but around much of the coastline of Ireland.” It also warns against erosion caused by more frequent and extreme storms.
The statement says outright that both these threats pose “a real and immediate risk to most of the golf course frontage and assets," according to Politico.
The president-elect wants to implement policies that may someday force hundreds of millions of people around the world to flee their coastal homes due to sea level rise.
Perhaps they can immigrate to and seek refuge at his climate change-resistant hotels.
Oh, that’s right.
Oh, the irony.
