Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, one of the most ardent progressive warriors in Congress, is not about to accept the utter bullshit that Republicans think they’re going to shove in our faces:
“They’ve been rewarded for stealing a Supreme Court justice. We’re going to help them confirm their nominees, many of whom are disqualified?” fumed Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). “It’s not obstruction, it’s not partisan, it’s just a duty to find out what they’d do in these jobs.”
Even without the filibuster, there’s a lot Democrats can do to slow down the confirmation process for Trump’s nominees—to slow it down and make sure anyone the president-elect picks is in fact thoroughly vetted and appropriate for the job. Brown understands that, and, remarkably, so do many of his colleagues. It’s up to us to make sure that the entire Democratic Party gets it.
