Mayflower Oil Spill Arkansas

“Don’t want to drink this? Stop the Dakota Access Pipeline.”

x YouTube Video Published on Apr 1, 2013

www.democracynow.org - ExxonMobil continues its cleanup efforts after a ruptured pipeline sprayed thousands of barrels of crude oil from Canada across a central Arkansas subdivision, forcing nearly two dozen homes to evacuate.

The 20-inch so-called "Pegasus" tar sands pipeline burst near Mayflower, Arkansas, creating what the Environmental Protection Agency is categorizing as a "major spill."

"It's almost as if nature was trying to send a message that it might be best to just leave this stuff underground in Canada where it's been safely for the last few million years, instead of trucking it, piping it, training it hither and yon across the countryside," says Bill McKibben, co-founder and director of 350.org. He is author of "Eaarth: Making A Life On A Tough New Planet."

Big Energy-Coming To A City Near You, Soon!

They’ve got a new twist; to sock it to, New England!

It’s called, the, Northern Pass . A, highly controversial proposal to run new 180 miles of new power lines from Canada, through northern New Hampshire, down to Concord, and then eastward to Deerfield.

NO To Northern Pass.”

The Northern Pass project; in New Hampshire, is a high-voltage electric transmission line that will impact almost 95,000 acres throughout the state.

The Northern Pass project will have negative impacts and is a bad deal, for New Hampshire’s residents.

Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests

They want to clear cut; acres of New Hampshire. Notwithstanding; all the ecological damage, that is known to cause.

Clear cutting!!!

We hardly have any forests left, in this area. Compared to 50 yrs ago.

Forests are very important, ecologically.

Especially to a community who's economy runs on whether or not they get snow.

All these forests and trees are natural wind blocks, they keep the winds, carrying snow going in a certain direction. If you cut the trees, you destroy the natural paths, that, the winds carrying snow, travel.

One reason you get a lot less snow up here, (not that one could tell this year. But I've seen recent years, with minimal snow fall), Scientists say wet winters and hot dry summers are a sign of global warming/climate change, whatever one wants to call it. Both apply.

The Northern Pass transmission line will not benefit the people of New Hampshire. It will harm our towns and forests, which will cost tourism dollars, jobs. It will not lower electric bills, and the temporary jobs from construction will not make up for that. Besides these power lines are suspected to pose their own dangers to people.
