THE VILLAGE RESISTANCE - TGIF 12/8/17 “TIME FOR A BREATH OF FRESH AIR” STORY OF THE LOST HELPER

I originally wrote this diary for a planned “Bfitz Blitz” that was to take place on Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, there was a major change in plans and it was cancelled. So, what to do with an “ok” diary written about my favorite helper?Publish it, of course. [I couldn’t take out the first paragraph so I tried to edit.]

Today is (not) Thanksgiving. The day (as we were told as young children) where we give thanks for everything we have. Our families. Our friends. The premise being that by giving thanks, we will also  receive blessings. I can’t remember if it worked as a child and I hadn’t given it much thought as an adult. Until this year. Spoiler Alert: I’m pretty sure that it isn’t working like it should.

A little over two weeks a month has passed since the administration banned our friend, bfitzinAR. I hear others on this site say she can’t be a friend if you haven’t met her in real life. I call bullsh*t on that one right now. Friends listen to your heart when it’s breaking and try to ease the pain. Friends offer solutions to your problems without expecting anything else in return. When you need a few bucks until your next payday? They’ve got your back. That is bfitz. She is my friend.

She is also the heart and soul of the Community Links. I have been hearing heartbreaking stories of folks she has helped. Kossacks who, without the help generated from her links, might not be with us right now. Folks who would be homeless. Some who would be going to bed hungry. Some that are on the precipice of taking that step off that building and she talked them down. This is not conjecture...it’s fact.

I came for the politics but stayed for the community. Without bfitz? That community just got a whole lot smaller and colder. She is, in my opinion, The Lost Helper of dkos, and I won’t stop looking for her.

Strong people stand up for themselves, but stronger people stand up for others.
