I saw Deana’s FB post; about wanting to get the children toys and told her, to contact Toys For Tots.

She did. Turns out; Toys For Tots, said, that they don’t service this area because they don’t have enough people. They call them, Coordinators. Toys For Tots Frequently Asked Questions

Also; In order to get toys for this year; a Coordinator, ( an unpaid, volunteer) for the area needs to, have filled out paperwork, the previous January, every year.

Deana agreed to become the Sioux District Toys For Tots, Coordinator, but they still can’t get any toys from Toys for Tots, till next year. 

Deana has been in contact with; Colonel Peter C. Tagni, USMCR (Ret) Coordinator, phone 1-949-364-5531 at the Toys for Tots Native American Program. Deana said; she’s going, to call Colonel Tagni back and see if begging for some toys, helps.

I called him, got a machine, but he called me back and we talked for at least an hour. I asked him; maybe they have some extra toys and if he could help her out even a little, that would be good. 

We talked about; how to provide and improve, Toys For Tot’s distribution, to the Reservations, like, those, In the Dakota’s.

Colonel Tagni told me; that a large Reservation who fills out a simple form, will usually receive anywhere; from $15,000 to $20,000 in toys. Certainly something the Tribes should be taking an interest in, imo.

He also said that until recently very few people were even aware of their Native American Program.

Yes; he does, know Deana.

So; for this year Deana organized her own collection, to get toys for the Standing Rock Sioux Children. In coordination with her local, district Schools, Businesses and her Church. Deana's Church Website

All proceeds from this fundraiser. go to help, the Standing Rock Sioux Families, for the children.

Deana said she will be taking pictures and I will do a follow up diary with them.
