This is a day set aside to be thankful. To count our blessings. BfitzinAR is one of the blessings I’m most thankful for.
I stumbled onto this site via Keith Olbermann’s Countdown in September of 2008. Been here almost daily ever since. Bfitz was already here.
There’s a little saw that circulates regarding DKos- ‘Come for the politics, stay for the community’. Bfitz is an exemplar of the community. She’s one of the quintessential mother hens that makes sure our various DK communities have support; that the lost are comforted and those in need have at least a few shekels to stretch for the month.
She rounds up and coordinates efforts to make sure no one stays lost or left behind. A herculean task, shared among too few. Her loss, (which had better be temporary), is keenly felt across a number of communities within DKos.
Last week an ongoing (2+ years in the making) community project came to fruition- Aji & Wings moved into their almost-completed home. And got married. But Bfitz wasn’t able to attend the celebration.
I’m thankful that this community banded together to fix what had gone wrong and made Aji & Wings whole and safe and warm. But when my friends hurt, I hurt. When a friend is hurt for no good reason and with no explanation, I get mad.
Personally, I think she should be on staff with the title of Community Coordinator. The fact that she has been bojo’d, without explanation or recourse is both inexplicable and unacceptable.
But I’m thankful that she’s been here all these years to do what she’s so good at doing, being herself.
